Cause and subsequent approach
The fire brigade has given the signal fire master; as far as we can see at the moment, the damage is extensive. Over a considerable distance, we can see damage to the overhead wires. Overhead catenary portals have also sustained damage. We are now looking at how to repair this as soon as possible. The fire broke out because the overhead wire hit the train. How this could have happened is still unclear and will be investigated at a later date. The voltage jumped the overhead line immediately; this happens automatically in such incidents.
No casualties
Fortunately, there were no casualties, but train traffic between Breda and Roosendaal is still blocked all day. We advise travellers to check a journey planner before their departure. As soon as we know more we will let you know via our website and Twitter.
