When lifting the bridge, one of the ‘brass shear bolts’ of the latch broke. This is one of the six bolts that the bridge has. In principle, the bridge could still be used, but one of the sensors indicating whether the bridge is correctly closed, and therefore safe for passage, is showing a malfunction. This issue is preventing the train dispatcher from authorizing the use of the track.
The delivery of the parts will take 1 to 2 weeks. However, the technicians have managed to implement a temporary solution regarding the defective latch, so both the latch and the track are now functionally restored and ready for use. The final repair of the latch will take place once the necessary parts are delivered.
