ProRail, together with contractors, is once again hard at work in 2024 to carry out maintenance and renewal of the infrastructure along the entire Harbour Railway Line. The aim is to enable carriers, shippers, and businesses to operate trains as safely and efficiently as possible, with minimal hindrances.
Additionally, a three-year project called ‘superstructure renewal’ has commenced, involving the renewal of a total of 51 switches, 10 level crossings, approximately 16 km of track, approximately 10 km of rail geometry, and approximately 29 km of fasteners across the entire harbour railway line.
In 2023, maintenance work was also carried out, during which a total of 33 switches, 25 level crossings, and approximately 10 km of track were renewed across 30 out-of-service periods. These works were indeed completed within the agreed-upon timeframes, as stipulated with carriers and stakeholders.
