Anyone entering a rail yard in the port area has specific requirements to comply with. Unfortunately, the reality is that in many yards, these requirements and resulting rules of conduct are not, or not well enough, observed by yard users.
Drastically reduce number of ‘fines’
Everyone entering a yard in the port area has specific requirements to comply with. Unfortunately, the reality is that in many yards, these requirements and resulting rules of conduct are not, or not well enough, complied with by yard users. As a result, orders for periodic penalty payments have been imposed on ProRail. These are most commonly called fines.
As a result, too many fines are unfortunately being issued. ProRail is going to pass on these imposed fines more explicitly to the offender in question. This not only ensures that no prohibitions are violated, but also sanctions them.
The first two letters have now been forwarded to the relevant contractor. Other actions have also been initiated aimed at strengthening the supervision of railway yards and the organisation and embedding of yard management in the permanent ProRail organisation.
Pocket-sized cards with the applicable rules of conduct have also been produced. Several thousand of these cards have now been distributed to users of the yards. While handing out the cards, a conversation is initiated to encourage safe working and to create awareness in complying with the rules of conduct. There is also an instruction video.
